he Essential Martina McBride, a 40-song compilation of music recorded during her tenure at RCA Records, will be released Oct. 22 by RCA Nashville/Legacy Recordings.
The two-CD set includes her hits and also collects several duets, including “Still Holding On,” a collaboration with Clint Black for his 1997 Nothin’ but the Taillights, and “Chances Are,” a session with Bob Seger for the Hope Floats film soundtrack in 1998. Other collaborations include “Trip Around the Sun” (for Jimmy Buffett’s License to Chill), “Feels Like Home” (for Raul Malo’s You’re Only Lonely) and “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man” (with Alan Jackson for Coal Miner’s Daughter: A Tribute to Loretta Lynn). Now signed to the Republic Nashville label, McBride performs Friday and Saturday (Sept. 21-22) at the Menuhin Festival Gstaad in Switzerland. She resumes her U.S. tour with a Sept. 28 appearance at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
